Zack Nelson, renowned for his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, recently conducted another thorough durability test on Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max that is sure to make you cringe in astonishment.
Zack Nelson has now turned his attention to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple‘s latest and priciest release, which began shipping just last Friday.
Following his admiration for the brushed titanium and etched back glass as “incredibly stylish,” Nelson proceeds to subject the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max’s Ceramic Shield to his scratching tools, revealing that the display demonstrates impressive durability throughout the test.
With his trusty box cutter in hand, Nelson proceeds to gently test the selfie camera (resulting in an initial cringe). Encased by the Ceramic Shield, the camera proves its resilience.
Subsequently, the box cutter enthusiastically travels down the side of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (eliciting another wince), predictably stripping away the blue physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating and exposing the titanium frame underneath.
As usual in Nelson’s durability tests, he decides to bring a naked flame close to the new iPhone’s screen. Surprisingly, even after a lengthy exposure to the flame, the display stays surprisingly undamaged.
Everything seems fine up to this point. However, things take a turn for the worse for the iPhone 15 Pro Max during Nelson’s informal stress test when he tries to bend it using his fingers and thumbs. Sadly, the back glass display shatters quite easily, causing a significant wince.
Zack Nelson admits, “Honestly, that surprised me a lot.” He mentions that he’s been conducting bend tests for 11 years, and most phones usually don’t break, especially iPhones.
He continues, “The way it snapped was unusually fast, and it’s pretty shocking.” He wonders whether it’s because the grade 5 titanium frame has nearly three times the tensile strength of aluminum or only half the elasticity.
Interestingly, when Zack Nelson tries the same bend test on the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, the smaller phone holds up well.
But just when you might think the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been through a lot, Nelson takes things a step further by using a blow torch on the already damaged phone. Brace for another cringe-worthy moment.
