It has been recently reported by well-known leakers @OnLeaks and SmartPrix that rumored renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 8 Pro have been leaked, surprising many. These leaks have come six months prior to the official release date, indicating that Google has missed the chance to keep the upcoming flagship device a secret until its release.
Putting Google’s past track record aside, leaked renders of the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro have revealed that the company’s design team seems to favor rounded edges for the device, similar to the design of the Pixel 7 duo. This design choice is an improvement from the previous boxy design of the earlier Pixel models. Although the device appears a bit wider, the rounded corners add to its overall aesthetic appeal.
From the leaked renders, it appears that the Google Pixel 8 Pro’s overall design remains largely unchanged. The device features a dual-tone design with glass on both the front and back, along with a metal frame that extends to form a horizontal camera strip on the back. Unlike the Pixel 7 Pro’s dual-cutout design, the Pixel 8 Pro features an elongated, pill-shaped camera outline that houses the three camera sensors.
Based on the leaked renders, it seems that the Google Pixel 8 Pro will feature a triple-lens camera setup, which may include a high-resolution primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope-style telephoto zoom shooter. Additionally, there is a round cutout located just below the LED flash, but it’s uncertain whether it’s a macro or depth camera, or if it serves a specialized function such as an IR or photosensitive sensor.
Based on the leaked renders, there appears to be little change in the thickness of the bezels, and the front-facing camera is in the same position as it was on the Pixel 7 duo. However, the biggest difference is that the screen appears to be flat rather than featuring the curved sides seen on the Pixel 7 Pro, which could be viewed as either an upgrade or a downgrade depending on personal preference.According to leaked information, the upcoming Google Pixel 8 Pro will feature a 6.52-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of at least 90Hz. The dimensions of the phone are said to be 162.6 by 76.5 by 8.7mm, but there is little information available about the available color options aside from the ash black border shown in the leaked renders.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to feature a major upgrade in the form of a 3rd generation Tensor chip, manufactured using 3nm technology. This upgrade is expected to bring significant improvements in both raw performance and power efficiency. However, it remains to be seen if Google will also address the thermal hardware inside the device to ensure proper heat dissipation.
With the leaked renders of the Pixel 8 Pro making waves, it’s only a matter of time before information on the standard Pixel 8 model surfaces as well. However, fans of the Pixel series will have to wait until the fall season for the official release of these phones. On the other hand, the Pixel 7a has been widely leaked and is expected to be unveiled at the Google I/O event in May, along with a possible teaser of the highly anticipated Pixel Fold.
